Job seekers sometimes feel that they can search through the sources for job listings on their own, without seeking the aid of other organizations or websites. This is a mistake, as it often results in vast parts of the industry being overlooked. LawCrossing is an organization that has created the largest collection of legal job listings in the world and hosts that database on it's website for all job seekers to use, free of chargeāin an effort to gather information. They compile job openings from over 250,000 legal businesses so that no particular section of the legal industry is underrepresented. They comb over all pertinent information in an attempt to make that information available to the job seekers. In addition to searching for listings at high powered law firms, they also find and categorize listings at corporations, government offices, and public interest organizations all over the United States. They don't ask companies to pay any fee to place their listings in this database, as this would only serve to shrink the pool of active legal job listings in their database.
LawCrossing employs 150 people who spend hours daily searching through various sources, including print sources and job boards, to find all available listings. They also comb through 10,000 legal industry employer's websites. There is no other source available to job seekers that approaches anywhere near the amount of active legal legal listings that LawCrossing keeps track of. Law students and attorneys are empowered by the ability to track the market without putting too much energy into it.
